Twenty Feet From Stardom – Anchor Bay Entertainment (Documentary, 2013)

This film chronicles the careers of several of the music industry’s most “invisible” performers, those known as back-up or background singers. Notables include Darlene Love (the Crystals, the Blossoms), Merry Clayton, Lisa
Fischer, Claudia Lennear, and Judith Hill; interviews include Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder, and Bette Midler. The film includes both present-day interviews and performances and historical footage. Of interest to fans of pop music and music history, as well as those of us who grew up with “the sound,” this film is well-documented and photographed. It is available on DVD.
