Quiet: The Power of the Introvert in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain (2012 nonfiction)
Susan Cain’s landmark book has been on the bestseller lists for months, and with good reason. It is informatively written and researched (to the point of redundancy in some parts) but explains basic differences between introverts (at least 1/3 of the population) and extroverts – how they approach problems, how they respond in group situations, how they revive themselves to get ready for the next activity. It gives introverts an insight into their personalities and how to use them to best advantage. A valuable section of this book is on parenting introverted children, how to support them and be their advocates. Available as a hardback book in the Library, and also available in large print, on CD, and as an audiobook.
