Greetings Friends! We had a successful book sale in August, featuring non-fiction as well as children’s, gift quality books, CDs and DVDs. One noteworthy sale was made to a Castro Valley High School teacher who is teaching a beginning Mandarin class. She was able to acquire, with the support of the Castro Valley Education Foundation, children’s books in Chinese which were perfect for learning vocabulary. The teacher and students presented the Friends with a thank you poster—mostly in Chinese!! It’s a great feeling to know that our sale had a personal impact on students at our high school.
Great news! We will have a three day Book Sale, December 2, 3, 4. Friday night, from 6-8 PM is for members only. A membership table will be available for those who wish to join that night. This will be a 2023 membership. Current members can use a coupon from the back of their 2022 membership card. Saturday’s sale is from 10-3. Sunday is Bag Day where you will be able to fill a provided paper bag for $5. There will be a large selection of books in French and Chinese. Be sure to check out the non-English section!
Our Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, November 14 at 6 PM in the Chabot Room. Attendees will elect officers, hear a financial report, approve the budget for the upcoming year and hear the library’s wish list. Please join us for this important meeting.
2023 memberships will be available at the Annual Meeting. Your membership includes coupons that can be used in our book store and at sales. We are planning three sales in 2023; April, August and December! Each sale will have a members only night. Your membership helps us pay for the special programs the library offers:
